While underlining the importance of the farmer’s aid package that was transferred by the IFAP; political party ‘Madeira First’ has defended a new system that is less bureaucratic and that can be accessed simply and easily so that aid guarantees can be applied easily without placing thousands of Madeiran families at risk.
While visiting farmers in Santo da Serra, Madeira First candidate, Bruno Sousa, criticized the fact that these payments had been delayed, as the farmer’s payment aid platform was not launched on time.
“What we want is a less bureaucratic process, so that, support can effectively be guaranteed to farmers and thousands of Madeiran families who depend on the agricultural sector. He went on to bemoan that more than 11,000 farmers had been waiting for months for this money to be paid.
Bruno Sousa also wants to attract younger farmers, motivating them towards a more sustainable agriculture model.
