A man who has been missing since the 27th of November was rescued yesterday from a cliff near Caniço de Baixo.
The Captain of the Port and Local Commander of the Funchal Maritime Police, in conjunction with the Funchal Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcentre (MRSC Funchal), of the Portuguese Navy, with the Santa-Cruz Public Security Police station and the Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC IP-RAM), coordinated an operation to rescue a 38-year-old man, who had been missing since the end of November.
Following his disappearance, the MRSC Funchal was requested to carry out sea searches alongside crew members of the Funchal Lifeguard Station. Luckily, the man was located clinging to a cliff near Caniço de Baixo, and immediately rescued. He was then transported to hospital by members of the Portuguese Red Cross.
