According to the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), two earthquakes were recorded within two hours of each other.
The first earthquake, registering 1.8 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 23:00 off the south coast of Câmara de Lobos. The second, this morning, was recorded at 00:08 off the north coast of Porto Santo with a magnitude of 2.7.
There is nothing to suggest that either earthquake was felt.
