Weather Not As Bad as Predicted

Victor Prior, director of IPMA’s Funchal Meteorological Observatory, confirmed to local media outlets this morning that there has been a significant change in previously predicted weather patterns. The high temperatures originally estimated for the next couple of days, will not, as Vitor Prior states, “be as dire as previously thought.”

According to the meteorologist, the maximum temperature should not exceed 31ºC, contrary to what was predicted.

“With the formation and establishment of a depressionary core at altitude, south of the Madeira Archipelago and moving north, the current forecast points to maximum and minimum temperatures, lower than those predicted in the previous days, of the order of 2 to 4 °C. Thus, the maximum temperatures should not go beyond 31 ° C in Funchal, 25 ° C in Chão do Areeiro, 27 ° C in Santana and 29 ° C in Porto Santo.” However, like all weather fronts, these can change, and the IPMA is monitoring the situation.

Suspended Dust Particles

Despite the rain, the IPMA confirms that dust particles will remain suspended in the air for a further 24 hours.

Rain Forecast

Periods of weak rain are predicted for Monday.
