The Forest Police caught on Thursday six individuals, including a minor, who were in the Laurissilva in the Natura Network area altering a pedestrian trail without authorisation from the IFCN, and felling several indigenous trees in the process.
According to a statement from the Regional Secretariat for the Environment, the group was using mechanical and manual equipment.
Furthermore, the group had driven to the area using a car belonging to a cycling club, and will now be subject to criminal proceedings.
