ACI Europe, the trade association of the European industry that defends the collective interests of European airports, in particular, airport management and operations, awarded a joint distinction to the International Airport of Madeira and Menorca Airport.
The award puts both airports at the top of Europe in the 5 million passengers or below category. Four million people moved through Madeira’s International Airport last year.
ACI Europe justifies the award with the “exceptional performances” recorded mainly in the post-pandemic recovery, noting that Madeira has been able to add new companies and routes.
The judges of ACI Europe also praised the commitment of the Madeiran airport to sustainability, a fact reconciled with the investment made to improve the accessibility and experience of passengers, such as the creation of a service team.
