MadeiraShopping, in partnership with the Whale Museum, is hosting an exhibition on the importance of whale and dolphin conservation until the 9th of April, on floor 0. The exhibition will then be on display at the Museu da Baleia da Madeira from the 11th – 30th of April.
The free exhibition aims to educate visitors on the importance of conserving cetacean populations.
Developed by the Marcet II Project, the centre will have several informative posters and two life-size models of a ‘tropical pilot whale’ and a ‘bottlenose dolphin.’ Through this exhibition, visitors will see the variety of species that inhabit the waters and the risks they face – pollution, ship strikes, and overfishing-.
The exhibition also aims to highlight the importance of sustainable whale and dolphin watching tourism, which provides economic and ecological benefits.
In a statement, Alberto José Pereira, Director of MadeiraShopping said.
“It is important for us to ally ourselves with projects such as these. Being able to be part of our community’s awareness of the importance of preserving the oceans and their population is something that makes us very proud.”
