Tourist Train Returns to São Vicente

The Tourist Train, a service offered by NATURNORTE, returns on the 1st of March. This year they are offering two routes. Wednesdays are reserved for their Historical Itinerary, departing from the village of São Vicente at 10:30 am, while on Saturdays at 15:00, they embark for NATOUR (nature + tour).

The Historical Itinerary lasts approximately two and a half hours. The tour travels to Ponta Delgada, which includes a visit to The Manor do Aposento, a traditional Madeiran house, where visitors can experience life in a wealthy home in the 18th century. The property is classified as a property of local cultural value and municipal interest.

After the visit, a short route is planned through the ‘Corte do Norte’, passing through the Casa do Ladrilho and Praça do Romeiro. The next stop takes travellers to the Museological Centre – Cal Route, which contains a variety of interests in both a natural and cultural context. There is even the opportunity to see fossils dating back over five million years.

For those wishing to get to know the north side of the island, its local customs, and history this is an excellent tour.
