Yesterday afternoon the emergency services were called out to rescue a tourist who had fallen 15 metres on the Levada dos Tornos in the area of Ribeiro Serrão, Camacha.
A mountain search and rescue team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM), supported by a team of firefighters from Santa Cruz (BSSC) were immediately sent to the scene.
Information is scarce, although the health authorities tentatively suggested that the injuries would be serious.
Of course, the weather in Camacha yesterday afternoon was terrible!
