This afternoon a woman needed to be immobilised by the police due to her threatening behaviour.
The woman, in her early 40’s had to be detained by Public Security Police who were assisted by the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters (BVM). It would appear that the woman, who was psychologically disturbed was waving around some form of a weapon near the Oudinot Shopping Centre and threatening passers-by.
Once in police custody, the woman was initially treated by a pre-hospital team of the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters and then transported by ambulance to hospital, where she remains under medical observation.
