Although one swallow does not make a summer, traders in Funchal are beginning to feel a little more optimistic due to the gradual increase in the number of tourists visiting the capital.
This morning, reporters from local newspaper, JM, were out and about saying that the sight of tourists is bringing renewed hope within the tourism sector, especially as 1,800 tourists arrived last Saturday.
It’s a case of fingers crossed, and with Jet2 recording a 600% increase in ticket sales, and EasyJet adding a further 80,000 seats to their schedule, all within 24 hours of the announcement of the UK Green list, Madeira could return to some form of normality this year.
