Two tourists were photographed resting in hammocks suspended from traffic signs beside a pedestrian crossing at Madeira Airport this morning.
The image, sent to JM by a reader, shows the pair lying in the hammocks with their luggage nearby. According to reports, they remained there for some time.
The scene attracted the attention of passing pedestrians and drivers, some of whom were reportedly seen smiling at the unusual sight.
The photograph is the latest sent to the newspaper highlighting visitors’ use of public spaces across the island, an issue that has prompted frustration among some residents.
