Two officers from Madeira’s Public Security Police (PSP) achieved podium finishes at the 2026 Skyrunning Masters World Championships, held as part of the Pisão Extreme event in São Pedro do Sul.
According to a statement shared by PSP Madeira, Chief Freitas became world champion in the over-50 category and finished second overall among the men. Officer Lúcia Franco was runner-up in the over-45 category and placed third overall among the women.
Their performances helped Portugal secure first place in the team standings.
The demanding race covered 65 kilometres, with 6,500 metres of cumulative ascent, testing competitors’ endurance, preparation and determination.
Congratulating both officers, Madeira’s Regional PSP Command praised their dedication and discipline, noting that their achievements went beyond medals and demonstrated an ability to overcome personal limits.
