New Bordal Collection Celebrates Madeira Wine and Embroidery
Bordal – Bordados da Madeira has unveiled a new collection inspired by Madeira Wine, bringing together two important elements of the Region’s history, culture and identity: Madeira Embroidery and Madeira Wine.
Featuring a simple, contemporary design, the collection draws upon the shapes, colours and natural elements associated with vineyards and winemaking. Vine leaves, grapes and rich wine-inspired shades have been reinterpreted through traditional Madeira Embroidery to create pieces for both the table and women’s fashion.
The collection will be launched on Thursday, the 3rd of September, at 16:30 at Blandy’s Wine Lodge, Bordal’s partner in the project.
The historic venue provides an appropriate setting for the launch, which coincides with the grape harvest and the celebrations surrounding Madeira Wine Week.
Through the collection, Bordal hopes to forge new connections between Madeira’s traditions while continuing to preserve and renew its celebrated embroidery through contemporary designs with a distinct regional identity.
