On Thursday night, a suspected thief was shot by a PSP agent, following an attempted knife robbery.
The situation occurred around 21:30, in the Pingo Doce supermarket car park in Machico, on Rua da Estaca.
The Municipal Firefighters of Machico were called to help the victim, who had injuries to the lower limbs caused by the firearm. The assailant was transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where he remains.
Seven elements were mobilised to attend the incident.
