Paulo Alves recalled the various promises over the last few years regarding the renovation works at the São Jorge Basic School – Cardinal D. Teodósio de Gouveia, which would convert the abandoned building into a Senior Citizen Home.
Juntos Pelo Povo presented a draft resolution that refers to the “sad story of advances and setbacks, promises and more promises, at the whim of electoral acts.”
The school, inaugurated in 2010, operated for nine years until it was closed. The President of the Regional Government promised it would be converted into a nursing home; however, over the last few years, there have been “advances and setbacks,” especially with unfulfilled electoral promises.
Now, says the JPP deputy, Miguel Albuquerque has stated that the São Jorge home project will be “relaunched,” meaning “everything will go back to square one.”
