Fuel Increases

The price of fuel will increase next week in Madeira.

Information released indicates that petrol will increase of 1.7 cents, to 1.584 euros per litre. While diesel will increase by 3 cents per litre to 1.513.  This is very different from the amounts quoted earlier, as petrol was expected to rise by 8 cents a litre and diesel by 24 cents.

In other news, the Regional Government once again reaffirmed that “it is prepared to mitigate the increase in fuel prices with the reduction of the Tax on Petroleum and Energy Products (ISP)”. This was a guarantee given today by the regional secretary for Agriculture and Fisheries, Nuno Maciel, who was attending, on behalf of the President of the Government, the 460th anniversary of the parish of São Gonçalo.

“Given the international context, it is normal that prices may rise, but the Regional Government is prepared to mitigate this increase with the reduction of the ISP,” said Nuno Marciel, stressing that “Madeira will continue to have the cheapest fuels in the country.”
