The Representative of the Republic for the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) has signed and sent for publication the regional legislative decree that approves the minimum monthly wage value guaranteed in the Region. The diploma was approved in a plenary session of the Legislative Assembly on the 21st of January and arrived at the São Lourenço Palace on the 27th of this month.
This decree comes after the Regional Government’s discussions in late 2025, when the Government Council approved a proposal to set a new minimum monthly wage for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, effective from the 1st of January 2026. In December of last year, the regional executive gave the green light to a legislative decree setting the minimum wage at 980 euros, starting from the beginning of 2026.
In the Autonomous Region of Madeira, this value is set by regional legislative decree, which may be higher than the national minimum wage, taking into account the economic and social specificities of the Region.
With the signature and submission for publication of the diploma, the next step will be its disclosure in the Official Gazette, which will allow the formal entry into force of the new value.
