Hospital Sale Confirmed

Last Friday, the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, firmly announced that the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital building will be sold. Plans to convert it into a residential home have been abandoned due to rising costs.

When questioned by reporters, he said:

“It’s already decided, and the conversion of the building into a residential home would be out of the question.”

According to the minister, the revenue obtained from the sale of the property will be used to pay for some of the associated construction costs of the new Central and University Hospital of Madeira.
