The mayor of Calheta, Doroteia Leça issued a statement reporting the closure of the Marginal da Calheta due to the danger of falling rocks and the need for urgent intervention.
In her statement, Doroteia Leça informs that thearea will be temporarily closed to car and pedestrian traffic, as well as on the promenade, in the section between the entrance to the supermarket car park (Pingo Doce) and the west zone, in an extension of 100 meters.
“The closure takes effect immediately, and the area is expected to reopen on the 18th of January. The place is signposted and demarcated, to ensure the safety of all passers-by, reads the statement.
The mayor also informs that “parking until the reopening of this section will be free along the entire length of the waterfront.”
