PSP Issue Walking Advice

In a statement, the Madeira Regional Command of the Public Security Police (CR PSP Madeira) has shared on social media some key safety tips for anyone planning to explore the island’s walking trails.

The PSP advises never to walk alone, wear suitable footwear and clothing, and bring bottled water along with energy snacks. Stick to clearly marked trails, let family or friends know your planned route ahead of time, and carry a fully charged mobile phone in case of emergencies.

Also in the Facebook post, it reports that in October, two citizens, who were walking along pedestrian route (PR17), got lost.

“Thanks to the joint work of the Mountain Search and Rescue Brigade (BBSSRM) of the Public Security Police, in conjunction with the Regional Civil Protection Service, IP-RAM, and the Forest Police Corps, they were found, and this Christmas, the two foreign citizens sent a box of traditional festive goodies from their country.
