2026 Regional Budget Approved

The proposal for the Regional Budget for 2026 was approved in a final vote in the Regional Assembly. The document was unanimously approved by the majority of deputies, namely the 23 elected by the PSD and one from the CDS.

Opposition to the budget was split between those who voted against and those who abstained. Voting against were PS (8), JPP (11), and Chega (3), while the IL deputy chose to abstain.

As for PIDDAR, the investment plan for next year was passed, with votes against from PS and comments from JPP, Chega, and IL. The proposed Regional Budget for 2026 amounts to 2.329 billion euros, about 204 million euros lower than the 2025 Regional Budget.

This reduction is justified by the mainland government as loans needed for debt refinancing will drop from 523.6 million euros in 2025 to 269.5 million euros in 2026, a decrease of 254.1 million euros, along with a cut in the funds allocated to RRP projects, which will go from 394.0 million euros in 2025 to 260 million euros in 2026, reducing the amount by 134 million euros.

As for PIDDAR, the proposal is close to one billion euros and covers health, education, and accessibility as investment priorities.
