10 People Caught on Walking Routes

Despite notices from the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) that all pedestrian routes would be closed today (Wednesday), for safety reasons, the Forest Police body identified 10 people circulating on prohibited routes in the Rabaçal area.

Through a press release, the IFCN “deeply regrets that, despite the warnings and the existing signals, situations of non-compliance continue to occur that put the safety of visitors and the operators themselves at risk involved in any relief actions.”

The President of the IFCN, Manuel Filipe, reinforces that “the closure measures have a single objective: to protect physical integrity and avoid dangerous situations in mountain areas, where the conditions can change quickly and cause serious accidents.”

In conclusion, the IFCN reiterates the call for responsibility and collaboration of all, especially visitors and tour operators, so that they comply with all safety measures.

Despite the bad weather, DIÁRIO reported that Net Madeira’s cameras captured a high influx of tourists to Rabaçal.
