An earthquake registering 4.0 on the Richter Scale was recorded last night at 23:19 off the East-Northeast coast of Deserta Grande (Desertas).
According to the IPMA, the earthquake was felt more on the east of the island, with reports indicating that it was felt in Caniçal, Machico, Santa Cruz, Caniço, Funchal and Porto Santo.
According to recent information from the Regional Civil Protection Service, the earthquake has not caused any personal or material damage.
A second 1.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 04:18 this morning.
