An appeal for a bone marrow donor is circulating on social network platforms. An aunt of a 21-year-old man is looking for a donor before time runs out for her nephew.
“Without enough red blood cells, Tiago feels devastating fatigue and shortness of breath. Without adequate white blood cells, any infection can be fatal. Without platelets, any small bleeding can become dangerous,” says his aunt.
To register as a donor, please get in touch with SESARAM. Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years old, healthy, weigh more than 50 kilos, and measure more than 1.50 m in height. All those interested will be asked to complete a form and answer a questionnaire. If candidates meet the requirements, they will be asked to provide a blood sample. Anyone who is not compatible with young Tiago will be added to the world database – Portuguese Registry of Bone Marrow Donors.
