On Saturday, representatives of the New Right were in the Quinta Josefina neighborhood, Funchal. During their visit, they connected with residents to gauge their concerns over the management of the housing complex, Sociohabita.
During an interview with reporters, party coordinator Paulo Azevedo, said that residents identified several problems, such as the lack of maintenance of the gardens, lack of a playground, and the absence of adequate firefighting points. Not long ago, there were two fires in different apartments, and the firefighters found it difficult to use the fire hydrants.”
Other complaints concern the functioning of the neighborhood support office. According to the report of the New Right, the absence of the person in charge has caused a delay in the resolution of requests submitted by residents.
Paulo Azevedo also points to situations of vacant housing, some due to “emigrated tenants,” and others allegedly occupied by people who are not on the housing register. At this time, said Paulo Azevedo, when so many people are in urgent need of housing, the situation is deplorable.
In view of the scenarios outlined by residents, the New Right will request clarification from Sociohabita, the municipal company responsible for the housing management of the Quinta Josefina complex, taking into account that the problems are not exclusive to the neighborhood in question.
Concluding, the party says that people have a right to dignity, to live with dignity, and to be treated with dignity.
