Airport Strike

ANA Aeroportos da Madeira has issued a warning to all travellers regarding industrial action by Menzies (formerly Groundforce) employees.  The strike started today and will continue for the next couple of days.  Because of this, the airport may be affected.

In view of this situation, passengers are asked to confirm the status of their flight with the airline before leaving for the airport.

The strike is expected to last 76 days, and flights between the mainland and the islands are covered 100% by minimum services, as decreed by the Arbitration Court of the Economic and Social Council. However, the same does not apply to international flights, which are at risk of disruption due to the strike.
