Temperatures in Madeira are expected to rise from Friday, with the hot weather extending over the weekend and into next week.
“Temperatures will rise from Friday with hot and windy weather affecting the south coast of Madeira. A rise of two to three degrees is expected, with thermometers approaching 30 degrees. The north of the island and Porto Santo will be less affected by the increase in temperatures.
The increase will be most pronounced in the highlands, where a rise of eight to nine degrees is expected.
Wind speeds are expected to intensify from today (Wednesday), becoming more significant on Thursday and Friday. Gusts could reach 65 km/h in the extreme west and east of Madeira Island, and up to 75 to 80 km/h in the highlands. The wind, however, should start to decrease from Saturday.
Forecasts point to possible disruptions to the airport as operational limits are likely to be met or exceeded. As always, check with your airline before leaving for the airport.
