Pension Age Limit Under Discussion

In the debate around the CDS proposal, which aims to adapt the age of access to the old-age pension, according to the average life expectancy, which is lower in the Region than on the mainland, the JPP expressed itself in favour.

Mariusky Spínola defended greater flexibility in this area, recalling that the average life expectancy at the national level is 81 years and in the region it is 79. The deputy understands, however, that changing the age of access to the old-age pension requires studies on the financial impact on a Social Security level.

From Chega, Miguel Castro said that the party will vote against a populist measure. He said that it “is to create an illusion to the Madeirans that they will retire earlier, which will subsequently be rejected by the deputies elected by Madeira in the Assembly of the Republic.” The measure is beautiful, but it will be rejected.” Responding to this, Sara Madalena recalled that Chega voted in favour of an identical measure in the Azores.

Ouch!!
