The Public Prosecutor’s Office has just shelved an inquiry into appointments to management positions made by the Government in early 2024.
At stake were doubts about the legality of these acts when the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque was resigning. The prosecutor concluded that the decision is legal and censures the Representative of the Republic, whom he accuses of possible “flagrant violation” of the Political-Administrative Statute.
So far, the Representative of the Republic, Ireneu Barreto, has not commented on the situation.
