The Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM), in partnership with the cruise company AIDA Cruises, carried out on Monday a tree planting initiative in the Funchal Ecological Park. The initiative, part of the environmental sustainability policy of the Ports of Madeira, also has the support of the Municipality of Funchal and Blandy Shipping, the company’s shipping agent.
The event brought together crew members of the ship ‘AIDAcosma,’ including Captain Vincent Cofalka, a group of passengers and representatives of the Directorate of Resource Management and Environment of the Ports of Madeira. During the day, about 20 trees were planted and a plaque was erected to commemorate the company’s participation in the initiative.
Patrícia Bairrada, Commercial and Public Relations Director of APRAM, highlighted APRAM’s environmental commitment: “We take our commitment to the environment, sustainability, and social responsibility very seriously, and this activity is another concrete action with these values.”
The representative also recalled that this is the second time that AIDA Cruises has participated in this type of sustainable programme.
Captain Vincent Cofalka reinforced AIDA Cruises’ commitment to the local communities visited. “We are committed to the communities who welcome us season after season. These environmental actions are a way of reinforcing this proximity and contributing to environmental sustainability.”
