GESBA – Property Management Company Sector da Banana, Lda. issued a press release this week calling on all producers to report any damages suffered due to bad weather.
Thus, the public company stresses that “given the recent meteorological occurrences, all producers who have suffered damage must communicate any losses to the Atlas Insurance company within eight days.”
Moreover, this procedure is essential so that expert reports can be undertaken to assess the amount of compensation due. This procedure is already ongoing and all those affected must seek compensation through the official channels.
Please note, that the attribution of compensation is conditional on the verification, by the insured, of accumulated losses greater than 20% of the average annual production of the safe crop, calculated according to the following: Crop Insurance aims to insure production, guaranteeing the farmer compensation in the event of an accident of meteorological origin. The cost of the insurance premium is supported up to a maximum level of 70% (with community contribution),” states IFAP – Institute of Financing Agriculture and Fisheries.
