The Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA), has issued orange warnings for sea agitation and a yellow alert for rain and strong winds that are expected to affect the region on Friday and Saturday.
According to the IPMA, the North Coast and Porto Santo are under orange warning between 03:00 and 18:00 on the 8th or March with northwest waves reaching on average 5 to 6 metres with maximum heights reaching 10 metres.”
In turn, the South Coast is under a yellow warning for precipitation between midnight and 06:00 on Friday the 7th.
Finally, the entire region (Madeira and Porto Santo) will also be under a yellow warning for strong winds between 18:00 on the 7th until 15:00 on the 8th of March. Gusts are expected to reach 80 km/h.
