Pedagogical Farm Lacks Promised Funding

Political Party, PAN Madeira, said today that the population of Prazeres demands the execution of the proposal approved under the participatory Budget for the restoration of the Pedagogical Farm, located in Calheta.

Party leader, Mónica Freitas, reminds everyone that this project won the participatory budget in 2022, with the signing of the programme contract, and that the approved funding  “was to be included in the 2024 Regional Budget.”

“However, we are at the beginning of 2025 and nothing has been done, stressing that the party “since 2023 has warned of sub-standard living conditions for the animals and that the place needs to be redeveloped and properly managed.”

The PAN considers it “inadmissible that nothing has been done, and that the animals and farm has practically been abandoned.  She has also met the members from the Chamber of Calheta, the Diocese, including Father Roberto, and ensured that a vet has seen the animals to improve their welfare.”
