Given the worsening weather conditions, the Regional Civil Protection Service has made the following recommendations.
• Ensure the clearance of rainwater drainage systems and removal of aggregates and other objects that may be dragged or create obstacles to the free flow of water;
• Ensure adequate fastening of loose structures, namely scaffolding, placards and other suspended structures;
• Be especially careful when circulating and staying near wooded areas, being aware of the possibility of falling branches and trees, due to strong winds;
• Be especially careful when circulating along the coastline and areas historically more vulnerable to coastal landslides, avoiding circulation and stopping in these areas;
• Adapt behaviours and activities to the expected weather situation, avoiding travel to affected areas or unnecessary movements;
• Adopt defensive driving, reducing speed, and pay special attention to the possible formation of water sheets on the roads;
• Do not cross flooded areas, as there can be open drainage and sewage holes;
• Do not circulate in areas with degraded buildings, due to the risk of landslides;
• Special care in mountainous areas, exposed slopes, and coastal areas;
• Be aware of weather information and indications from the Civil Protection and Security Forces.
Passage of an active and well-defined cold frontal surface, precipitation and thunderstorms are expected, with periods of rain or locally heavy showers, especially on the southern slopes and mountainous regions, and the period forecast with greater intensity will be between 18:00 and 21:00 today with weather warning remaining in place until 23:59.
Please remain alert near the coast as waves can reach up to 9 metres in height.
