While visiting the Lar Bela Vista home, the CDU has denounced what it believes to be another lie of the Regional Government in Continuing Care and Residential Structures response to the Elderly.”
In the course of the initiative, the leader of the CDU, Ricardo Lume said that the Regional Government assured in June 2023, that the management of Lar da Bela Vista would move to a private sector and that the infrastructure would be renovated due to its advanced state of degradation, room for a further 80 would be created as well as improvements to the living conditions of those living at the home would be carried out.
This is not the case, concludes Ricardo Lume:
“Although the management of the home has been handed over to a private entity that is known to be ‘friendly’ with the current government no improvement works have been initiated and conditions are worsening rather than improving.”
A scandal broke out last year when the home’s management had to admit they were giving people ‘hot washes’ as their boiler had broken down.
