The Portuguese Association of People with Special Needs—IPSS—Associação Sem Limites today announced the publication of Order No. 447/2025, dated the 9th of January, approving the model of medical certificate of multipurpose disability (AMIM) for cancer patients, according to Law No. 1/2024, of 4th of January, and for pathologies that do not require the transitory evaluation of a medical board, according to Ordinance No. 151/2024/1.

Further pathologies exempt from evaluation are, among others, limb amputations, loss of visual function (according to specific parameters), deafness, laryngectomy, or permanent tracheostomy cannula (also with specific criteria). In addition to these conditions, cancer patients can also obtain this certificate through an electronic platform. The order, which came into effect from the 10th of December 10, 2024, aims to facilitate and speed up the process of obtaining the multipurpose disability certificate.
