9 Pedestrian Routes Remain Closed

According to a press release from the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), some classified walking routes in the Region are already passable, but there are still 9 walks that remain closed.

Following the update of the weather warnings issued for the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the IFCN points out that these nine routes cannot yet be used.

  • PR 1.3 Vereda da Encumeada
  • PR 4 Levada do Barreiro
  • PR 7 Levada do Moinho
  • PR 12 Caminho real da Encumeada
  • PR 19 Caminho real da Encumeada
  • PR 20 Vereda do Jardim do Mar
  • PR 23 Levada da Azenha
  • PR 27 Glaciar de Planalto
  • PR 28 Levada da Rocha Vermelha

And it also informs that four others are still partially Passable.

  • PR 1 Path do Areeiro – passable route from Pico do Areeiro to the Pedra Rija Viewpoint, at km 1.2
  • PR 2 Path do Urzal – passable route from Lombo do Urzal to the km 6,2
  • PR 9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde – passable route from Queimadas to the junction with Vereda da Ilha, at km 4.5
  • PR 17 Path Pináculo and Folhadal – passable route between the Encumeada and Bica da Cana

The IFCN warn that if any anomalous situations are encountered (broken trees, branches/trees obstructing the path, and/or others) on the pedestrian routes must be reported to the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation immediately.
