According to data released this morning by the Regional Directorate of Statistics (DREM), in November 2024, in the Region, there was an increase of 7.7% in the number of deaths compared to the same month in 2023,(196 deaths). In the cumulative from January to November, the number of deaths was 2,343, a reduction of 8.1% compared to the same period last year. In terms of excess mortality, there was a deficit of 5.1% in November, compared to the average for the years 2016 to 2019.
As for births, the number of live births in November fell by 24.2%, to 138 records, while the cumulative total of live births up to November was 1,621, an increase of 1.0% over the previous year.
The natural balance in November was negative (-58), higher than that of November 2023, which was nil. From January to November, the natural balance was -722, showing an improvement compared to the same period in 2023 (-945).
