Rain surpassed yellow warning levels in 5 of the 19 meteorological stations of the Portuguese Institute of Atmosphere and Sea (IPMA) with record rainfall recorded in the Autonomous Region of Madeira last night/this morning.
In the weather station located in Chão do Areeiro, rainfall reached 21.5 mm in one hour (at 3 am), orange warning level, with the station recording the highest volume of accumulated precipitation since midnight (37.4mm).
Rainfall also reached orange levels in the localities of Caniçal, with 21.6mm of rain falling in one hour (3:40 am).
This is followed by Porto Santo, with 18.8 mm in one hour (3h20), the Pico do Areeiro, with 13.5 mm (2h10), and São Vicente, with 12.8 mm (2h20).
The yellow warning was lifted at 05:00 this morning.
