PSD: Early Elections Are Good For Us

“We have come to say that PSD Madeira wants the elections to be held as soon as possible,” said Miguel Albuquerque, president of the party, at the end of the audience with the representative of the Republic that lasted about 30 minutes.

“We are, at the moment, without a budget, we have a caretaker government that will govern by twelfths and it is essential to restore confidence in the market as soon as possible, to ensure that, through the elections, we return to having a stable government with the future,” he said.

Albuquerque arrived accompanied by the president of the council of jurisdiction, Rui Abreu, the secretary general of the PSD-M, José Prada, and the deputy and vice-president of ALRAM, Rubina Leal.

In a statement, Miquel Albuquerque reiterated:

“If we have to have further elections, these will be the third in eighteen months.” The current President was appointed just under seven months ago, on the 29th of May, 2024. “Furthermore, we cannot remain in a situation of instability.  This just damages confidence and affects everyone.” He concluded.

Miguel Albuquerque also maintains that, given the current situation, the opposition parties will be punished by the people and that the PSD can achieve a great electoral result.
