At the end of the round of listening to the parties, this Wednesday, Jorge Carvalho has not yet lost hope that the 2025 Regional Budget proposal will be approved.
“Our reading is to continue until the day of the vote to work and seek to create a platform of understanding, appealing, once again, to the responsibility of all parties. The Government presents the Budget, but it is not the Government’s. It is for all Madeirans, it is a Budget that responds to many of the requests and living conditions of Madeirans,” expressed the Government representative in negotiations with the various parliamentary forces, excusing himself from entering into excessive fatalism.
Faced with Chega’s intransigence in making the document viable only if there is a change in the composition of the Executive, including Miguel Albuquerque, Jorge Carvalho said he was not mandated to comment on this matter, only for party negotiations, noting that “there are several parliamentary groups in parliament and we are talking about only one.”
It should be recalled that PS and JPP refused to even negotiate in this second round, while only PSD and CDS said yes to the Budget, giving 21 votes. PAN left open the possibility of abstention, but Chega and Liberal Initiative voted no, which added to the deputies of the PS and JPP created a vote of 25 against.
