The situation of a homeless man who sleeps in a bus stop, as recently reported by JM Online and on social networks, has, once again, highlighted the problem of homelessness in the city centre. Many residents are horrified that people are sleeping on park benches and doorways.
According to Sílvia Ferreira, from CASA, 86 people sleep on the streets, and there are no immediate answers. Social Security says it can only intervene when their help is accepted.
