Everything is set to bring in the new private medical consultation fees from the 1st of December.
Pedro Ramos, whilst celebrating European Antibiotic Day, which took place today at the Health Service of the Region (SESARAM) denied that there was any disagreement with the doctors, namely the Medical Council of the Region of the Order of Doctors about the price increases. Instead, he spoke of the “always fruitful, productive dialogue,” reinforcing the agreement between all parties on the need to review this price list, since it has not been updated for some time. The Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection highlights the fact that, above all, the population that uses private health services has been protected.
This measure represents an investment of almost two million euros by the Regional Government, through the Institute of Health Administration (IASAÚDE), over the next three years.
Consultations will cost 60 euros from the 1st of December, bringing in a five euros increase. In the first year, the increase will be entirely assumed by IASAÚDE through reimbursements. Further five euro increases are planned for December 2026 and December 2027. After 2025 the payment of the difference will be assumed by both the patient and the Regional Government in a fifty-fifty split.
