Mouldy Eggs

The ADN Party – National Democratic Alternative, has alerted the Health and Regional Inspection Authorities to a “public health problem that needs urgent and effective intervention, whether in the commercial areas that package and sell eggs, the transport companies that deliver them and most importantly, egg farmers.”

According to a recently received photograph, the DNA notes that “there are eggs from a prestigious regional company for sale, but unfit for consumption, despite being within the expiration date.  They also state that the company logo covers most of the packaging so that consumers cannot see the condition of the eggs they are buying.”

ADN-Madeira published their findings yesterday on their social networks and “surprisingly throughout the day local newspaper, JM, received hundreds of calls from Madeirans all over the island complaining about the very same thing, demonstrating that this is not an isolated incident.  Furthermore, others have said that they are both dissatisfied with the product and worry about buying eggs, whether it is for the home or commercial enterprise.”

The ADN-Madeira Party reminds the entire population of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and entities responsible for public health that:- By consuming spoiled eggs, anyone can run the risk of food poisoning, especially by Salmonella contamination, a bacterium present in eggshells. It can cause vomiting, headaches, stomach aches, and chills.

The ADN Party questions when an intervention will be made or if the authorities are waiting for a fatality, because according to reports, “complaints have been sent to the production company and sales outlets throughout the Autonomous Region of Madeira.”

For those who are concerned, it is possible to buy free-range eggs from independent producers.
