Businessman Mário Ferreira, the largest Portuguese cruise operator, is receptive to setting up a “serious and credible” ferry operation between Madeira and the mainland.
He considers that a regular maritime connection to the mainland “makes perfect sense,” but places some conditions for the operation to be successful, namely having two twin ships, a specific pier, and a set of benefits to offset initial start-up risks and losses.
