The Judiciary Police, through the National Unit for Combating Cybercrime and Technological Crime, participated in the third phase of the transnational operation Jackal, coordinated by Interpol, against organised crime networks in West Africa, which are dedicated to the development of online financial fraud.
The police operation took place between the 10th of April and the 3rd of July, with the participation of 21 countries spread across all continents.
To date in Portugal, this operation has resulted in the arrest of 31 people, including foreign and national citizens, the seizure of about 1.4 million euros, the freezing of 50 bank accounts, the identification of 48 suspects, and the opening of 28 investigations.
