Gross Regional Debt Decreases

At the end of the 1st quarter of this year, the gross debt of the Regional Public Administration of Madeira decreased by around 66.5 million euros, which corresponds to (-1.3%) compared to the end of the previous quarter, and decreased by 89.5 million euros compared to the same period of the previous year.

The information is contained in data from the Regional Directorate of Statistics, which said that at the end of the first quarter of this year, that is, in March, gross debt stood at 4,935.8 million euros.

Also according to the same entity, analysing the evolution of the composition of gross debt by financial instrument, it notes that, in the 1st quarter of 2024, the weight of loans was 39.8% (44.5% in the same quarter of the previous year) and of securities debt was 60.2% (55.5% in the 1st quarter of the previous year).

Also according to data from the Regional Directorate of Statistics, the Regional Government is responsible for 96.7% of the total debt and the public companies classified within the APR perimeter for 3.3%.

At the end of the 1st quarter of 2024, net deposit debt was around €4,729.9 million, having decreased by around €75.5 million (-1.6%) compared to the end of the previous quarter, and decreased by €106.8 million (-2.2%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
