Madeira has been awarded its first surgical robot. The announcement was made by the President of the Regional Government, during a blood donor ceremony.
Considering this to be a historic and important day for SESARAM and the Region, Miguel Albuquerque said that this robot was an investment of two million and one hundred thousand euros and that “it will improve and accelerate surgeries.”
In the tribute to assembled blood donors, the head of the Executive thanked all “those who have provided a great service to our community,” noting that this “is not just any service, it is an act of solidarity,” to which he extended his thanks to Dr. Bruno Freitas and his team.
During his speech Miguel Albuquerque also launched the challenge for younger generations, to donate blood, praising the example of Cristiano Ronaldo and congratulating himself on the fact that the Region is “self-sufficient in terms of blood, unlike most regions in the rest of the country.”
