We Need More Output From Renewable Sources

Ensuring access for all citizens to clean, secure, and affordable energy and combating energy poverty are two objectives set by Sérgio Gonçalves for the next term in the European Parliament.

The candidate for Sunday’s European elections, recently visited the remodelling works of the Serra de Água Hydroelectric Power Plant, an intervention that he classified as an excellent example of the use of EU funds. The work, worth around 15 million euros, is being carried out under the funds of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and allows the production capacity of the hydroelectric plant to be doubled, using a renewable energy source.

“This is one of the great objectives that we want to defend and stimulate and that assumes particular importance in an island and outermost region, which is also dependent on imported energy.”
